From June 15 to 22, in the courtyard of the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen in Volos and in other places, the “Nautical Week in Volos 2025” is scheduled to take place.
Specifically, the action is planned for another year at the initiative of the Cultural Organization of the Holy Metropolis of Demetrias and Almyros, “Magneton Ark for the Rescue of Cultural Heritage” with the support of the Volos Port Organization, the Region of Thessaly, the Municipality of Volos and numerous sports and cultural organizations of the city.
As every year, a Mediterranean region is chosen as the honoree with special references to its culture, music, visual expression, dances, etc. In this year’s event, the honored region will be Crete.
His Eminence Archbishop of Crete, Mr. Eugenios, the Regional Governor of Crete, Mr. Stavros Arnaoutakis, and a wider delegation from Crete have been invited to the Nautical Week with new data, actions, honorable events and cultural expressions dedicated not only to the Culture of the Sea, but also to the extremely important and honorable reference to Crete for the city of Volos.
The celebration of the Maritime Week in Volos was established again in 2015, with events covering the entire Magnesia, and aimed at conveying in every direction the message that the maritime element has in the survival of the region and its contribution to the economic and cultural development of the place.
The role played by the Navy in the long history of the region, but also of Greece as a whole, has become an indissoluble bond with the sea in the consciousness of all Greeks. For Magnesia, inextricably linked to the sea, as a geography and an idea, the source of its life is found in it. The diversity of the organization also contributes to the preservation and dissemination of cultural heritage, since it includes events presenting the art of shipbuilding, the presentation of customs and traditions of the coastal areas of Magnesia.
It is noted that the events are aimed at audiences of all ages with free admission.
