Athens ranks among the top ten most popular international destinations to which Americans plan to travel on the occasion of Independence Day (July 4), according to booking data from the American Automobile Association (AAA).
According to the survey, Athens is the 9th most popular destination for Americans planning to travel abroad during that period.
Vancouver is the top destination, followed by sought-after European cities that attract high demand from the US market during the summer months: Rome, Paris, London, Barcelona, ??Dublin, Amsterdam, Calgary, Athens, and Lisbon.
The demand for travel during this period to the above destinations mainly concerns cruises, beaches, and events.
A record is expected to be recorded in the number of Americans who will travel by air during this period, which according to estimates by the AAA Association will total 5.84 million – up from 5.76 million last year – representing 8% of all travelers for Independence Day and recording an increase of 1.4% compared to last year.
