The unique natural beauty of Santorini and the unique flavors of its local products impressed the Turkish journalists who visited the island from June 24 to 28, 2025, as part of the systematic initiatives of the Greek National Tourism Organization to promote Santorini to target markets of Greek tourism.
It is noted that Istanbul is connected to Santorini with a new direct flight by Aegean Airlines. The new air connection strengthens the island’s potential in the Turkish market and makes Santorini more easily accessible to visitors from Turkey.
During the visit, journalists Ragip Soylu and Fikret Can Kusadali (KisnisVesaire) had the opportunity to experience firsthand the unparalleled beauty of Santorini, its rich gastronomy, cultural heritage, and its high-level tourist infrastructure.
The program included visits to traditional settlements, wineries, archaeological sites, agrotourism units, as well as contacts with local entrepreneurs and tourism operators.
The successful familiarization trip (press trip) was organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), the Foreign Service of Turkey, in cooperation with the Municipality of Santorini, the Public Diplomacy Office, and the Consulate General of Greece in Istanbul.
The action is part of the broader framework of promoting the Greek tourism product in neighboring Turkey and confirms the strategic goal of strengthening extroversion and highlighting sustainable tourism development.
The mission was accompanied by the Head of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) Foreign Service in Turkey, Ms. Maria Rachmaninoff.
