GNTO: Promoting the authentic Thassos in the German market

Thassos, with its history, culture, excellent beaches, haute cuisine, excellent hotel infrastructure, and adventure tourism, was the focus of a press trip organized by the GNTO Germany Service from September 10 to 14.

The press trip was attended by Karl-Heinz Goedeckemeyer, a journalist at the travel portal Mortimer Reisemagazin (https://www.mortimer-reisemagazin.de), and Werner Menzel, a journalist and photographer for the tourist media Touristikzeitung (https://www.touristikzeitung.com) and tusiasm.com (https://www.tusiasm.com).

During their stay on the island in the northern Aegean, the two German journalists, accompanied by the head of the EOT Germany Service, Nikoleta Lekanidi, were given a tour of the Archaeological Museum, the Ancient Theater, the Ancient Agora, the Thassite Traditional House (Kalogeriko) in the old port of Limenas Thassos and the Polygnotos Vagi Art Museum in the settlement of Potamia, while they also visited a local apiary, the Olive and Oil Museum and the traditional village of Panagia with the imposing church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary.

Finally, they had the opportunity to live a unique nature-loving experience, exploring traditional mountain settlements and places of natural beauty of the island by jeep, such as the village of Theologos, the historic Castle and Lake Marien.

The press trip to Thassos, which according to representatives of the local authorities has already received over 1 million visitors this year, was carried out with the assistance of the vice president of the Thassos Tourism Organization, Lambrini Foka, the special tourism advisor of the Municipality of Thassos, Panagiota Moschopoulidou, and the president of the Thassos Hoteliers’ Association, Margariti Babatzikos.
