The Deputy Mayor of Economic Planning of the Municipality of Athens, Georgios Giannaros, and the CEO of Development Athens, Ioannis Georgizas, recently welcomed Peng Tao, Deputy Mayor of the city of Changsha, capital of the Chinese province of Hunan, to the company’s offices in Serafio, along with a delegation of Chinese officials.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the possibility of developing joint actions in the fields of science, technology, tourism and culture. As Mr. Giannaros emphasized, “this meeting will contribute to the deepening of relations between the two cities.”
Mr. Georgizas presented the work of Development Athens, which supports the policies of the Municipality of Athens through programs in critical areas, such as society, culture, tourism, technical works and the environment. At the same time, he referred to the excellent relations of the Municipality of Athens with Chinese cities, such as Shanghai, noting: “We have developed partnerships with many cities and participate in conferences in China, culminating in the twinning of Athens with Shanghai”.
For his part, Deputy Mayor Peng Tao spoke about Changsha, a city with a long history, like Athens, but also with significant achievements in the fields of industry, science, construction and energy. He proposed cooperation between the two cities in the fields of technology, energy and education.
