The Minister of Tourism, Ms. Olga Kefalogiannis, was visited by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Greece, Mr. Sultangozhin Timur, to discuss the further strengthening of bilateral cooperation in tourism and the strengthening of relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan emphasized the appeal of Greece in Kazakhstan as a tourist destination and the respect of its citizens for its history and culture.
The main topic of the discussion was the air connectivity of the two countries. Mr. Timur noted that in the past there was a direct flight between Heraklion and Almaty, pointing out that its restoration will significantly strengthen tourist flows.
The Minister expressed her support for the prospect, noting that a direct connection would contribute to the development of tourism cooperation and open up new prospects for investment in the tourism sector. At the same time, the role of Kazakhstan as a developing travel hub in Central Asia, with a strategic geographical location and modern infrastructure, was underlined.
Finally, the Ambassador invited the Minister of Tourism to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan in 2026, in the context of further deepening cooperation in the fields of tourism and investment.
