??????????????The participation of the Municipality of Syros – Ermoupolis in the international tourism exhibition World Travel Market (WTM) 2025 in London was completed with great success and a number of scheduled meetings, highlighting Syros as one of the most up-and-coming and quality destinations in the Aegean.
The exhibition took place between 4 and 7 November in London, with the Municipality participating at the South Aegean Region pavilion, within the exhibition area of ??the Hellenic Tourism Organization (EOT).
During the exhibition, targeted contacts and presentations were made with the assistance of the Municipality’s special collaborators, with the aim of informing journalists, bloggers, travel agencies and representatives of organizations about the multidimensional tourism product of Syros.
The natural beauty of the island, the cultural uniqueness, the alternative activities, the picturesque villages and the gastronomy attracted the interest of visitors and tourism professionals, confirming the dynamic of the destination. The universal interest of all contacts for new destinations less saturated in terms of tourism was significant, something that Syros highlighted as an advantage.
The Municipality was represented by the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Mr. Ioannis A. Voutsinos, with the presence of the businessman and member of the Tourism Committee, Mr. Yannis Voutsinos (Zanaki).
Among the most important contacts are meetings with journalists from international media such as The Sun, The Times, The Mirror, and National Geographic, as well as with thematic tourism bloggers and travel agencies from Great Britain, America, Italy, Australia, India, and Eastern Europe.
In addition, contacts were made with representatives of airlines, such as Aegean Airlines and Sky Express, with the aim of finding connecting flights to new destinations in Europe.
Of particular importance was the meeting of the Deputy Mayor with the Director of the Greek National Tourism Organization Office in Great Britain, Ms. Eleni Skarveli, where the possibilities of cooperation between the Municipality and the Organization in the British market in view of the new tourist season were discussed.
The Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Mr. Ioannis A. Voutsinos, stated: “We are joining forces and improving the rationale for exhibition participation in order to maximize the benefits for the destination and the professionals of Syros. Preparations were made in advance for the selection of contacts, while the details of the participants will be made available to the Municipality and the Tourism Committee, so that communication can begin to send additional information and explore journalistic trips and collaborations.”
The participation of the Municipality of Syros – Ermoupolis in WTM is not just a promotion, but a strategic tool for extroversion and development. Through targeted collaborations, professional preparation and the exploitation of the contacts created, Syros can strengthen its position as a model destination that combines culture, quality and authenticity in the Aegean.
