Parliament-funded construction of Greece's biggest ICU ward to begin shortly

Construction is beginning shortly on the largest Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to be built in a Greek public hospital – “Sotiria” pulmonary hospital in Athens – after funding by the Hellenic Parliament, the latter institution’s president Constantine Tassoulas at a special event held on Thursday at his office, ANA reports.

Tassoulas pointed out the gift of 8 million euros came from the parliament’s own coffers. He commended the speed with which the project was approved after parliament responded to the Health Ministry’s request in March, and thanked Energy Minister Kostis Hatzidakis for signing the construction permit on Wednesday.
