Norway’s Ambassador to Greece, Frode Overland Andersen, in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) released on Monday, noted that there was such potential in the region of Greece, especially in the energy sector, that he would not be doing his job if he had not informed the Norwegian Energy Ministry and the companies in his country about the developments.
“Obviously, I cannot promise investments but I must say what is happening here because I think Norwegian industry was not watching what is happening in Greece as closely as it should,” he added.
The ports of northern Greece, such as those of Thessaloniki and Alexandroupolis, play a key role, he said, as big-scale construction projects at sea, such as floating wind farms, are not possible without port infrastructure with sufficient depth.
According to Andersen, who recently visited Thessaloniki, “the region of northern Greece is today one of the most interesting in the country.”
