Turkey specialist British tour operator Elixir Holidays closes down

Turkey specialist Elixir Holidays has ceased trading describing recent bombings in the country as “the writing on the wall”, travelweekly reports

The tour operator, based in St John’s Wood, London, which sold around 10% of its product through the trade, had 309 passengers booked to travel.

A spokesman said this represented 92 bookings, 70 of which were protected by Atol.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) listed the failure on its website on Wednesday.

Reputable company

The body is directing passengers to a claim form and guidance, and its credit card referral letter.

“We are still answering the phones as we are a reputable company,” said a spokesman for Elixir Holidays, who did not wish to be named.

“For those not covered by Atol the administrators will do everything in their power.

“The writing was on the wall when the problems in Turkey started.

“The bombings have made people very nervous about committing to the country ahead of time.”

Elixir Holidays employed five people in London and more in Turkey.
