Tour operator in Athens supports unemployed guides in COVID-19 period

Athens Walking Tours, owned by City Contact, as part of its initiatives in a difficult environment for tourism at this time, announced a package of measures to support its partners – guides:

It is the company’s decision to protect all its employees – partners, as far as possible, in relation to the very difficult conditions experienced by the whole country.

City Contact CEO Yiannis Yiannakakis commented on the matter: “Only if we are united will we be able to successfully overcome this unprecedented trial. Because now, since we do not know when this isolation will end, we must and we can proceed to recognize the new data and actions that can provide security and hope. This hope can be based on our unity and creativity, so that when the next day comes, we will be prepared for a new course, in any new environment we are invited to operate, to do what we love and know: to offer exceptional experiences to our guests”.

In this context, City Contact has undertaken the following initiatives, especially for its tour guides:

ATHENS WALKING TOURS SOLIDARITY FUND FOR TOUR GUIDES

Tour guides are not included as affected professionals, at least so far, in the measures announced by the Greek government. Therefore, we provide the opportunity for every tour guide who has worked with us for a period of time to request an emergency aid.

NEWSLETTER UPDATE FOR ATHENS WALKING TOURS GUIDES

We are all going through a very special period, which requires all of us to demonstrate patience and a high sense of responsibility. We are all informed of what is happening every day in our country and around the world, about tackling the spread of coronavirus. In this Newsletter, tour guides will be informed responsibly about the developments in Athens Walking Tours, tourism and the pandemic front in our country and worldwide. It will be open and can host reviews, questions or even articles by tour guides.

WEBINARS – ON-LINE EVENTS – ACTIONS

The new environment we experience today requires new actions. In this context, we have already started organizing interactive experiences that each tour guide can watch and participate from his or her home, computer or mobile phone. This content can be informative and educational as well as inspire collaboration, development of new ideas, or even actions that will prepare and shape the next day and the return to “normality” through new ideas and services.
