The European Commission on Friday approved the funding of an ultrafast broadband project in Greece worth 223 million euros of EU funds, which will provide fast internet access to almost 11 million users nationwide, ANA reports.
More than 196 million euros will come from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and 27 million euros from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms Elisa Ferreira pointed out that “thanks to this investment, Greek citizens, especially those living in remote areas, will benefit from efficient, modern and ultrafast internet access.”
