New Technologies in Hospitality: Event in Magnesia

The event “New Technologies in Hospitality and Tourism”, co-organized by the Magnesia Hotel Association and the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, was a complete success. The event was hosted on Monday, March 17, at the Valis Hotel in Agria, Volos, with the aim of promoting innovation in the tourism sector. At the same time, a particularly constructive on-site visit to hotels and tourism businesses in Magnesia followed on March 18 and 19.

Presentation of technological solutions for tourism

At the event, the Startup Accelerator of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, CapsuleT Travel & Hospitality Accelerator, in collaboration with the Magnesia Hotel Association and with the support of the Magnesia Chamber, presented innovative technological solutions for the improvement of hotel services. Distinguished startup companies of the CapsuleT acceleration program presented new applications and services that enhance the competitiveness of hotels and tourism businesses.

The event opened with a speech by the president of the Magnesia Hoteliers Association, Mr. George Zafeiris, who emphasized the importance of education in new technologies. Greetings were delivered by the President of the Thessaly Regional Council, Ms. Chrysa Tsaganou, the Deputy Regional Governor for Digital Governance, Mr. Yiannis Anastasiou, the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of Volos, Ms. Melpomeni Lazarou, and the President of the Magnesia Room Owners Association, Ms. Evangelia Dianellaki.

Actions and awards

The director of CapsuleT, Ms. Katerina Saridaki, presented the startups that participated in the program, highlighting their technological innovations. As part of the event, the Magnesia Hoteliers Association awarded an honorary plaque to Ms. Saridaki and the CapsuleT team for their contribution to promoting innovation in tourism.

Presentations from the eight participating startups followed, which focused on solutions such as artificial intelligence, waste management, online reservations, and virtual tours. Participating hoteliers had the opportunity to discuss with the startups’ creators in b2b meetings, enhancing networking and knowledge exchange.

On-site visits to tourism businesses

On March 18 and 19, an on-site visit was held to important tourism businesses in Magnesia. The startups visited Volos Palace Hotel, Karaiskos Agritourism Farm, Manthos Mountain Resort & Spa, Project Zeta in Zagora, 12 Months Resort & Spa in Tsagarada, and the Tokali Distillery in Nea Anchialos. The visits aimed to understand the challenges faced by tourism businesses and explore ways to implement innovative solutions.

The Magnesia Hoteliers Association expressed its gratitude to all participants and committed to continuing to promote technological solutions that enhance the development of the tourism sector.
