The unique beauty of the Rhodes landscape, the sights of Rhodes, its history and culture through its monuments, as well as the modern way of life, its rich gastronomy and of course the famous Rhodes hospitality, were captured with the lens of his camera by the well-known, famous in his homeland of Switzerland, instagramer and YouTuber Loris Zimmerli, with 213 thousand followers and 112 thousand subscribers respectively, as part of a tribute by the tourism organization Territory Agency on behalf of the Swiss airline Edelweiss Airlines, which, upgrading its flight operations for this year, has planned new connections with Rhodes and Kos.
A tribute that, beyond Rhodian gastronomy, promotes Rhodes as a unique tourist destination, combining natural beauty with archaeological sites, but also the modern way of life, the variety of local products and of course the unique Rhodian hospitality.
Mr. Zimmerli and his team were welcomed by the executives of the Tourism Directorate of the Municipality of Rhodes, the Director Dr. Nikos Manikaros, and the Tourism-Culture Advisor Maria Hatzikyriakidou, due to the absence of the Deputy Mayor of Tourism & Culture Georgios Toppou, abroad.
On a bicycle, Mr. Zimmerli and two other people from his team literally plowed for two days, as long as their trip, the city of Rhodes, the Medieval City, visited Monte Smith, the Ancient Stadium, had lunch at great restaurants in the city and the island in general, such as Koukos Rhodian Guesthouse, Aktaion, Lakani Restaurant, 10gr boutique Hotel & Wine Bar, which contributed significantly to the well-known Instagrammer’s trip to Rhodes.
Wherever they went, the camera lens captured the beauty of the landscape, recorded the history, culture, gastronomy, and life of the island in general with images. “Rhodes has such a rich and delicious local cuisine, such hospitable, open-hearted and generous people,” Mr. Zimmerli emphasized to the executives of the Tourism Directorate who accompanied him.
This short visit was decisive for the Swiss visitors who got to know Rhodes not only as a tourist destination, but as a destination of alternative tourism, gastronomic and cultural interest.
They were satisfied with the comprehensive visit and acquaintance program, as well as the facilities provided to them by the Tourism Directorate of the Municipality of Rhodes.
