A joint decision signed by 3 ministers and 6 deputy ministers established the procedure for notifying the start of operation of thermal therapy units, thermal tourism centers, thalassotherapy centers, and rejuvenation centers (spa), through the Integrated Information System for the Exercise of Activities and Controls.
The relevant decision includes information on the required supporting documents and the maintenance of a file at the site of the thermal therapy unit, the thermal tourism center, the thalassotherapy center, and the rejuvenation center (spa).
If the details of the notification of operation of the spa treatment unit, spa tourism-thermal center, thalassotherapy center, or rejuvenation center (spa) are to be changed, the activity operator is obliged to provide prior notification of the intended change. In the event of a cessation of operation of the activity in the place where it is carried out, the activity operator shall notify of the cessation. For the submission of the cessation of operation notification, the initial notification procedure is followed accordingly. In the event of a change in the place where the activity is carried out, the operator is obliged to submit a new notification for the new place where the activity is carried out by completing the relevant procedures again.
After the submission of the notification of operation or from the time the obligation to submit it arose, the competent Regional Tourism Services (RTS) and other supervisory authorities, to which the notification is notified, may carry out checks to ascertain the correctness of the notification data and monitor the compliance of the activity operator with the requirements.
A fee of 400 euros is required for the submission of the initial notification of the above activities. No fee is required for the notification of voluntary cessation of operation, renewal of the required supporting documents, and for the notification of a change in another notified element, except for the change of operator.
The operator of the activity pays the fee before submitting the notification, in order to complete the relevant field in the notification form, and keeps the proof of payment together with the other supporting documents at the place of exercise of the activity.
The total revenue from this fee constitutes revenue of the state budget, and 20% of the revenue is recorded in the Budget of the Ministry of Development, in order to cover relevant expenses of the General Secretariat of Industry
In the event that a violation is found regarding the notification, sanctions are imposed on the operator of the activity, specifically an administrative fine of 100 to 20,000 euros.
