Kuoni: “Shipwreck” among the 20 most heavenly beaches in the world

A Greek beach is among the top 20 in the world, most frequently described by travelers as “paradise”.

According to a survey conducted by luxury vacation travel company Kuoni, Shipwreck Beach in Zakynthos is 8th in the global ranking of beaches that have been identified in the minds of travelers as… paradise, since 10% of reviews for it include the word “paradise”.

In the survey, Shipwreck Beach is characterized as one of the most impressive, hidden gems of the Ionian Sea, with visitors claiming that the breathtaking view made their hearts beat faster, and many giving the beach experience five stars, even when conditions did not allow them to go ashore.

The world ranking of paradise beaches is dominated by beaches in Asia and Oceania, while Europe stands out with Zakynthos Beach and Pentle Bay in the Scilly Isles of the UK.

Port Olry Beach on the South Pacific island of Espiritu Santo took first place, with 15% of reviews for it including the word “paradise”, followed by Mozambique’s Parque Nacional de Bazaruto (14%) and One Foot Island in the Cook Islands (13%).

Kuoni analyzed thousands of online reviews of over 180 of the world’s most stunning beaches. It evaluated review data from popular travel websites and ranked the beaches based on the percentage of reviews that included the word “paradise” in the title or description of the review.

The association between beaches and paradise began in the early 1900s, as “beach culture” shifted away from medically prescribed health-enhancing visits and became a more attractive luxury activity.

The desire for pristine beaches became more popular with the rise of beach tourism, and today there are nearly 47 million posts on Instagram with the hashtag #paradise, the majority of which depict a beautiful beach scene.
