"Remote in the Peloponnese" | Digital nomads in the mountain village of Raftis in Arcadia

In the mountain village of Raftis in Arcadia, digital nomads and remote workers lived and worked remotely for fifteen (15) days as part of the “Remote in the Peloponnese” action by WORKFROMGREECE.GR and Tursi Digital Nomads.

From September 6 to 20, 13 digital nomads and remote professionals, from Europe and America, enjoyed the daily life of a small village in Greece while working, while at the same time having the opportunity to get to know the destination through a series of experiential experiences.

They explored traditional villages such as Dimitsana and Stemnitsa, attended cooking classes with local recipes, hiked the Mainalo trails and rafted on the Lousios River, discovered the culinary traditions of the region through wine tasting and visits to local businesses, and visited important monuments and museums in the area. At the same time, at the “Meet the Locals” event organized on September 18 at Dimitra’s Resort, the digital nomads spoke with representatives of local government and local organizations about the prospects for further development of the region as a digital nomad destination.

Nikos Diamantopoulos, General Manager of Marketing Greece, stated in this regard:

“WORKFROMGREECE.GR’s strategic goal is to introduce digital nomads to lesser-known destinations in the country, arousing their interest in Greece, highlighting the multitude of options the country offers and strengthening the conditions for sustainable tourism development.

The “Remote in Peloponnese” action, implemented in collaboration with Tursi Digital Nomads, is a typical example of how the digital nomad community can contribute to the development of local societies.

Beyond the economic footprint and the exchange of know-how and ideas, what is achieved, and we consider equally important, is the synthesis of different cultural elements. The resulting convergence and the common ground created, where the concept of cooperation for the development of destinations acquires substantial content.”

Maria Vasli, spokesperson for Tursi Digital Nomads:

“Remote in the Peloponnese is an experiment: to bring remote workers to an area that remains unknown to the international public and quite remote from the usual hubs. The fact that it was crowned with success proved that digital nomads are not only looking for modern infrastructure, but also authenticity, community and stories that connect them to the place. Our goal is to show that even the most “quiet” corners of Greece can become living ecosystems for the global community of remote workers.”

Marketing Greece’s initiative, WORKFROMGREECE.GR, has the support of sponsors AEGEAN and COSMOTE and is under the auspices of the Greek Government.
