Forty five lawmakers from ruling Syriza party have submitted a question in Greek parliament to Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos and Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura asking them whether a long term strategic plan has been put in place on Airbnb home rentals.
The lawmakers claimed that they want to protect the tourism industry and groups of the population that are encountering problems from the massive growth of short term rentals in the country.
They raised concerns that Airbnb may be lowering the quality of living for the broader population, with many people being squeezed out of neighourhoods popular with tourists.
