New tourist identity for South Aegean

The new tourist identity of the South Aegean Region was presented today in London, at the start of the World Travel Market international tourism exhibition. The new identity constitutes the promotion umbrella for all the islands of the region abroad. Its logo and slogan are the product of the Region’s strategic cooperation with international television network CNN, from which the new international advertising campaign will kick off.

The initiative is part of the South Aegean Region’s action plan to reverse the negative image of Greece, in the international media, which in many cases has bruised local tourism.

New tourism strategy

In this direction, South Aegean Prefect George Hadjimarkos commented: “The new tourism strategy of the South Aegean Region comes to meet the challenges of the times, to highlight the particular identity of each island and relocate all our islands in international markets in their rightful, highest place. Top professionals from around the world worked for our new international identity in the region, worthy of the dynamics and perspective of these wonderful destinations. We must build our future, not wait for it to happen!

The South Aegean Region, which is made up of the Cyclades and Dodecanese island groups, represents the first Greek region to enter a partnership with CNN, which counts some 291 million subscribers across the globe and is known for launching targeted promotional campaigns.

CNN Task Group

CNN approached the Region of the South Aegean and suggested a cooperation, recognizing that the region boasts some of the biggest and most popular travel destinations in Europe.

Its TASK Group was launched in 2007 to boost tourism and help various countries identify their globally not-so-popular destinations to attract tourists. It is comprised of a team that focuses on building partnerships with tourism sector professionals to create remarkable solutions for their tourism strategies.
