The Greek authorities and the institutions have made significant progress on the complete package of measures that will pave the way for discussion on the completion of the review of the Greek programme and the sustainability of the Greek debt, stated alternate spokesperson of the European Commission Mina Andreeva on Thursday and confirmed that the heads of the institutions will return on Thursday to Brussels in total agreement with the Greek authorities.
“The work continues at all levels and from the institutions’ headquarters. The Commission continues to work with faith and commitment in order the review to be completed as soon as possible” underlined Andreeva.
She also said that the Commission continues to work with “the Greek authorities, the institutions and the other memberstates on the last points of a comprehensive package of measures within the spirit of 12 July’s agreement.”
Finally, referring to European Commission president Jean Claude Juncker’s recent statements, she reiterated that the European’s view is that a package of credible measures is enough in order the programme’s targets to be met. However, quoting Juncker’s statements “if the other institutions believe that the precautionary measures are necessary and if they are proposed, the European Commission is ready to evaluate them in close cooperation with the Greek government“.
These have been already agreed and “the Commission cooperates with devotion and is working on a effective mechanism that will not pointlessly hinder the growth of the Greek economy” concluded Andreeva.
