Greek retail sales volume fell 6.6 pct in February with all store categories reporting negative results with the exception of department stores.
Hellenic Statistical Authority, in a report released on Thursday, said that the volume of sales fell 11.1 pct in furniture/electrical appliances/home equipment, by 9.8 pct in bookstores, by 7.9 pct in fuel/lubricants, by 5.8 pct in clothing/footwear, while they fell by 5.4 pct in supermarkets, by 3.2 pct in pharmaceutical/cosmetics and by 0.5 pct in tobacco. On the other hand, the volume of sales grew 9.4 pct in department stores.
The retail sales volume index (turnover in fixed prices) fell 6.6 pct in February, compared with the same month last year, while the seasonally-adjusted index fell 3.0 pct in the same period.
The retail sales turnover index (current prices) fell 7.3 pct in February compared with the same month in 2015, while the seasonally-adjusted index eased 2.4 pct in the same period.
