Greece is recovering faster than expected, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said on Monday and expressed his optimism over the country’s prospects.
Schaeuble, who was speaking at a conference on the sustainability of Germany’s fiscal condition, said that now he is more optimistic over Greece’s economic growth.
He stated that the crises may bring anti-popular fiscal decisions but stressed that this is the right way for budget stability.
The German Minister also underlined, however, that Greece needed a functional public administration.
He commented on the monetary policies followed by the European Central Bank (ECB), noting that the central bank’s responsibility for overseeing the economy of the whole Eurozone meant it could not promote the most beneficial policies for Germany.
‘All the institutional bodies, including the ECB, should be open to public scrutiny’, noted Schauble.
