The Greek government delegation will be visiting Washington tomorrow Thursday, for the spring meeting of the IMF.
Ministers Euclid Tsakalotos and George Chouliarakis will be having contact with officials on the sidelines of the session, which is expected to lead to a compromise between the Europeans and the Fund on the Greek debt issue. A European Commission delegation headed by Jean-Claude Juncker will also be visiting Washington.
The International Monetary Fund is expected to show its intent for the primary surplus in the publication of its fiscal report on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the IMF issued a report on Greece, which predicts growth at a rate of 2.2% in 2017 reaching up to 2.7% in 2018. In 2022, however, the report anticipates that the country’s GDP will be reduced by a rate of 1%, stating in the meantime that a restructuring of the Greek debt seems necessary.
