The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack on the outpost security forces near the Greek Orthodox monastery of St. Catherine in the Sinai Peninsula, killing at least one policeman and wounding four others, announced the Ministry of Health of Egypt, a week after two deadly attacks in churches where 45 people were killed.
St. Catherine of Sinai was founded in the 6th century and is one of the oldest Christian monasteries in the world, included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
