A clear distinction emerges between Gulf countries and the rest of the Arab world with regard to the average monthly salary for 2025, according to a relevant survey conducted in Arab countries.
Specifically, in Qatar, the average monthly salary is estimated at USD 3,937, in the United Arab Emirates at USD 3,502, and in Kuwait at USD 2,025. These are countries whose main source of revenue is oil, but which also benefit from a favorable investment climate, modern infrastructure, and an economic model oriented toward services, technology, and financial activities.
Saudi Arabia ranks fourth with an average monthly salary of USD 2,001, implementing a program to diversify its sources of income. It is noted that these states impose low to zero income taxation, thereby increasing their attractiveness and the purchasing power of salaried employees. Fifth place is occupied by Palestine with an average monthly income of USD 633, an unexpected figure given the situation in the region, but most likely attributable to employment in the public sector and international NGOs.
By contrast, in other countries in North Africa and the Middle East, salaries are significantly lower. Egypt, at USD 137, ranks last, with high inflation, depreciation of the domestic currency, and severe pressure on the cost of living. Algeria, at USD 267, ranks second to last, performing worse than Libya (USD 275) despite their energy wealth, apparently due to a weak private sector, dependence on hydrocarbons, and limited increases in wage costs.
Morocco (USD 393) and Tunisia (USD 303) are in the middle of the ranking, with salaries that make it difficult to cope with rising prices. Finally, in Lebanon, with USD 502, the effects of the economic crisis are evident despite the significant contribution of remittances from abroad.
