A private, resort-style island in Fiji is set to change hands at an international luxury real estate auction scheduled for December 19, 2025. It is Wavi Island, a 27-acre private estate in the South Pacific, located just off Vanua Levu, the archipelago’s second-largest island. The auction will be held without a reserve price, with Platinum Luxury Auctions, in partnership with New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty, handling the process.
Wavi Island has been on the market several times in recent years, with the most recent asking price being $20 million. According to Trayor Lesnock, founder and chairman of Platinum Luxury Auctions, this will be the third luxury property auction the company has undertaken in Fiji. “Our team is thrilled to be working with Sotheby’s to find the new owner of this unique, private island. Wavi’s resort-style amenities – combined with 19 beachfront plots for further development – ??make it ideal as both a private retreat and an investment, income-generating asset,” he stressed.
Freehold ownership – a rare privilege in Fiji
One of the island’s key advantages is that it is transferred with freehold ownership, that is, full and clear ownership – something particularly rare in the archipelago, where over 90% of properties are available only on a leasehold basis. Properties with a freehold title are considered extremely valuable, especially for foreign investors.
Infrastructure and access
Although completely isolated as an island, Wavi is directly connected to Vanua Levu via a 450-meter private bridge. From there, Savusavu Airport is just six miles away, ensuring easy access to air connections. The island has comprehensive infrastructure – electricity, water supply and internet access – allowing for a comfortable stay without compromise.

Resort development and existing facilities
The Wavi Island masterplan includes 20 oceanfront plots, ranging in size from 0.5 to 1 acre. One of these is fully developed, with a 3,000-square-foot Signature Villa, three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, private pool and spa. The remaining 19 plots are ready for development by the next owner.
Shared facilities include a three-bedroom manager’s house, a community center with lounge, bar and large swimming pool, tennis/pickleball courts, and a private lagoon marina designed to provide each plot owner with their own mooring.
The island features mature tropical vegetation, with palms and papaya trees, as well as 360° views of the Koro Sea and Vanua Levu.
