Retail sales decline deepens across Greece in October

ELSTAT, Greece’s statistical office, announced on Friday that the seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade (excluding autofuels) in October dropped 1.3% y-o-y, after falling 0.7% in the previous month.

The decline was widely expected, based on anecdotal evidence and commentary by companies. Food category was the main culprit, where sales dived 4.6% compared to a 1.1% decrease in September.
