Private sector arrears to the Greek state drop 10.5% during April

New private sector arrears to the tax agency fell by 10.5 pct in April this year to 204 million euros, from 228 million in the same month in 2019, although tax arrears fell to 2.286 billion euros in the first four months of 2020 from 2.734 billion in the same period last year (-16.58 pct), official figures showed on Monday, ANA reports.

The Independent Authority of Public Revenue attributed this positive development to the fact that the pandemic and the lockdown led the government to a series of measures such as suspension of tax payments. The number of debtors with arrears to the state fell to 3,913,606 in April from 3,954,884 in April last year (a decline of 1.04 pct).
