The turnover of businesses in the Accommodation sector exceeded 11 billion euros in 2024, recording an increase of 9.2% compared to 2023 (11,005,484,313 euros in 2024 and 10,078,585,807 euros in 2023), according to ELSTAT data.
Correspondingly, the turnover of businesses in the Catering Services sector in 2024 amounted to 10,128,434,447 euros, recording an increase of 2.4% compared to 2023, when it had amounted to 9,893,781,361 euros.
Areas with the largest increase in accommodation – Decrease in Thira and Mykonos
For businesses in the Accommodation sector of the Regional Units with a contribution to the total turnover of 2024 greater than 1.0%, the largest increase in turnover between 2024 and 2023 was observed in the Regional Units of Rhodes (23.7%) and Lassithi (14.7%), while a decrease was recorded in the Regional Units of Thira (9.3%) and Mykonos (7.3%).
In catering
For businesses in the Catering Services sector of the Regional Units with a contribution to the total turnover of the year 2024 of more than 1.0%, the largest increase in turnover between the years 2024 and 2023 was observed in the Regional Units of Rhodes (17.6%) and Kos (12.2%), while the largest decrease was recorded in the Regional Units of Corinth (9.7%) and Mykonos (8.1%).
Over 21 billion euros in turnover in accommodation and catering
In total for businesses in the Accommodation and Catering Services sectors, turnover in the year 2024 amounted to 21,133,918,760 euros, recording an increase of 5.8% compared to the year 2023, when it had amounted to 19,972,367,168 euros.
For businesses in the Regional Units with a contribution to the total turnover of 2024 greater than 1.0%, the largest increase in turnover between 2024 and 2023 was observed in the Regional Units of Rhodes (22.6%) and Lassithi (12.9%), while a decrease was recorded in the Regional Units of Thira (9.0%) and Mykonos (7.6%).
