Mykonos: Smiles for Easter, optimism for record arrivals in 2025

Increased tourist traffic, encouraging messages from abroad, and optimism from the Mykonos Hoteliers Association for a better season than last year
The island of the winds is setting sail for a better year than last this year, with the president of the Mykonos Hoteliers Association, Maria Kousathana, noting in Tornos News that the messages from international markets are very encouraging and she speaks of an increase in tourist arrivals in 2025 compared to last year.

Against the backdrop of the Easter holidays, Mrs. Kousathana describes a particularly good movement on the island, a fact that is reflected in a greater flow of Greek visitors compared to the past. Of course, in any case, the lion’s share is claimed by foreign visitors who have already flocked to the island for the celebration of Orthodox and Catholic Easter.

At this point, the president adds that the hotels in Mykonos are all open, emphasizing, however, that the large volume of hotel units will traditionally open in May, as is the case with most hotels in Greece. The president of the Mykonos hoteliers, however, does not fail to emphasize that tourism businesses have healed their wounds from the recent difficult weather conditions that prevailed on the island in the past period.

Referring to the tourist product of Mykonos, Mrs. Kousathana recalls its uniqueness and its added value for the Greek tourism economy. Every day, 120,000 foreign visitors are on the island, while more than 70,000 employees offer excellent services. It is characteristic that the tourist businesses on the island are open on a 24-hour basis.

In fact, he criticizes those who have discredited the island in the past, emphasizing that it is something that is not appropriate for a destination like Mykonos. At this time, the island is feverishly preparing to welcome the large volume of tourists in the coming days, and of course to offer traditional customs, centered on Ano Mera, but also other places in the hinterland, where the residents keep the local identity and customs alive.
