Santorini | 22.1% drop in accommodation turnover in the second quarter

The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) today published data on the turnover of businesses in the accommodation and catering sectors, by Regional Unit, for the second quarter of 2025.

Overall, the accommodation sector recorded an increase of 2.6% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2024, while on the contrary catering services recorded a decrease of 2.6%.

However, the picture differs significantly at the regional level, with Santorini showing the largest drop in the country: turnover in accommodation fell by 22.1%, falling from 145.2 million euros to 113.1 million euros. Correspondingly, in catering services the decrease amounted to 21%, the highest percentage nationwide.

Mykonos recorded a marginal decline (-1.2%) in accommodation, while Corfu showed the best performance with an increase of 10.7%, confirming its momentum on the tourism front. In catering, the largest increase was recorded in Zakynthos (+7.3%), while the smallest losses were recorded in Evia and Kos (-0.2%).

The Santorini – Corfu divergence highlights a shift in balance in Greek tourism, with some traditionally strong destinations losing ground and others strengthening their position.
