A significant increase is recorded in the average spending per trip in our country in July and the first 7 months of 2025, according to the Bank of Greece’s travel balance of payments, pushing travel receipts to new records.
Specifically, in July 2025, the average expenditure per trip increased by 7.2% and, combined with the increase in inbound travel traffic (+6.4%, to 6.7 million travelers), resulted in an increase in monthly receipts by 15%, to 4.52 billion euros, compared to 3.93 billion euros in the corresponding month of 2024.
In the seven months (January-July) of 2025, the average expenditure increased by 9.1%, which, combined with the increase in inbound travel traffic by 2.6% (to 18.45 million travelers, compared to 17.98 million travelers in the corresponding period of 2024), led to an increase in receipts by 1.35 billion euros, or +12.5%, to 12.18 billion euros.

A decrease of 18.2% was recorded in receipts from the United Kingdom, which amounted to 549.9 million euros, while receipts from Russia increased to 7.8 million euros.
In terms of travel traffic in July, there were losses from France (-6.7%, to 362.4 thousand travelers) and the United Kingdom (-13.1% to 777.1 thousand travelers) while the US market remained almost at the levels of July 2024 (-0.2%, to 209.7 thousand travelers). On the contrary, Germany (+14.9%, to 963.4 thousand travelers) and Italy (+0.5%, to 404.3 thousand travelers) moved upwards. Finally, travel traffic from Russia increased to 5.4 thousand travelers.

A 2.9% drop was recorded in receipts from the United Kingdom, which amounted to 1.63 billion euros, while receipts from Russia increased to 17.4 million euros.
During the same period, travel traffic from the USA (+14.6%, to 903 thousand travelers), Germany (+8%, to 2.8 million travelers), Italy (+3.1%, to 1 million travelers) and the United Kingdom (+1.5% to 2.29 million travelers) increased. Losses were recorded from France (-8.6%, to 972.5 thousand travelers). Finally, travel traffic from Russia increased to 15.9 thousand travelers.
