On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of “Greek Commerce Day”, the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE) honored the country’s commercial world. In his message, ESEE President Stavros Kafounis described the Greek merchant as “the soul of the market” and “the living force of Greece”.
Mr. Kafounis emphasized that the commercial world is the strongest productive sector in the country, contributing decisively to supporting the economy, creating jobs and maintaining vibrant local communities. “The merchant, whether it is a small family business or a larger company, faces challenges with flexibility, resilience and creativity, turning difficulties into opportunities”, he emphasized.
He made particular reference to the contribution of the female merchant, who, as he said, combines professional and family obligations, offering a new perspective, social sensitivity and innovation to Greek trade.
ESEE, as he noted, continues to advocate for a stable and supportive environment for the commercial world, with the aim of strengthening competitiveness and extroversion. “Without thriving and strong trade, there is no employment, vibrant neighborhoods, balanced development and social cohesion,” said the president of the Confederation.
The main anniversary event for the “Greek Commerce Day” takes place in the afternoon at the Benaki Museum, under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic, with the aim of honoring the journey of Greek commerce and the people who keep it alive and strong
The event will be addressed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis, and the President of ESEE, Mr. Stavros Kafounis, while distinguished representatives of the sector and the academic community will participate:
