Main opposition New Democracy party (ND) has taken a significant lead over ruling SYRIZA party, at a new Greek poll published on Saturday which confirms findings of previous surveys.
According to a poll by Metron Analysis published in daily newspaper “Parapolitika”, ND gets 23.7% of voter preference and leads SYRIZA by 4.3%. Third is extreme-right Golden Dawn with 5.1%. The Communist party (KKE) follows at 4.7%.
ND’s leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis is considered more suitable for the PM job by 22%, compared to Alexis Tsipras who follows by 19% while 85% of respondents say that the country is going in the wrong direction, and 63% say that they are in a worse position than a year ago.
The vast majority of participants (78.3%) negatively assess the record of the SYRIZA-led government, whereas 70.8% have negative views of how Tsipras is performing his duties.
