Alternate Defence Minister Dimitris Vitsas, who is currently in the US, inaugurated on Tuesday the Greek pavilion at the 2016 AUSA (Association of United States Army) Annual Meeting & Exposition.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, Vitsas had a series of meetings with officials of companies that operate in the defence industry aiming at the promotion of the Greek defence industry to the international markets and cooperation with other relevant industries.
Vitsas visited the US Pentagon where he met with Elissa Slotkin (Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs)and was briefed by Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) officials. The Greek minister discussed with US officials the developments in the wider region of the eastern Mediterrenean with emphasis on the role of Greece as a factor of stability and safety in the region.
Moreover, Vitsas met with the president of the American Hellenic Institute Nick Larigakis and discussed the role of the Greeks Abroad in the USA and its contribution to matters that refer to the cooperation between the two countries.
On Wednesday, Vitsas will meet with the chief of the Defence Security Cooperation Agency(DSCA) Vice Admiral Joseph Rixey and the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Alan Estevez.
On Thursday, Vitsas will visit the Greek Embassy and will give a press conference to the Greek press correspondents as well as to US media representatives.
