Deputy Foreign Minister Terens Quick on Monday briefed Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on the results of his three-day tour of Greek-community villages in the Ukraine, particularly stressing the plight of children in Greek villages within the conflict zone and the difficulties they face.
Quick, whose visit ends on Monday, noted that the children in schools within the “contact zone” have need of psychological support. To this end, a decision was made to increase the annual financial support given by the Greek state to the federation of Greek societies, clubs and communities in the Ukraine, especially in the wider Mariupol area. As Quick explained to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA), this would be done of the basis of a programme to be drawn up by the Federation of Greek Societies of the Ukraine in collaboration with the Greek consulate in Mariupol.
