The municipality of Samothrace island on Thursday welcomed Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos for the celebration of the 105th anniversary of the island’s liberation from Turkish rule in 1913.
During his visit, Pavlopoulos attended a mass at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, led by the metropolitan of Alexandroupolis-Samothraki Anthimos.
Pavlopoulos also visited Fideleio Cultural Center, where he was declared an honorary citizen by the Samothraki Mayor Thanasis Vitsas.
