Trapped wildcat released back into the wild on Crete island

A female wildcat weighing 3.5 kilos was on Thursday released back into the wild in a region of the White Mountains National Park on Crete island in Greece, by staff at the Natural History Museum of Crete responsible for managing the park.

The wildcat had been caught in a trap in the Omalos area and taken to a veterinary clinic for treatment, where genetic tests using a blood sample indicated that it was a species of wildcat.
