Greek Alternate Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, in an interview with Mega TV on Friday, noted there had been an “unprecedented expression of solidarity [with Greece] at a European level,” referring both to the visit by European Union officials to Evros and the decision taken by the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council. Greece is asking Europe is to stand with it in solidarity against the asymmetric threat that the country is facing, he stated.
The minister added that Greece has always served the principles of law, whereas Turkey has decided to serve only the principles of its own interests. He described migration as “the most divisive issue in Europe, the one where there is the least consensus.”
