The inauguration of the Consulate General in Manchester took place on Tuesday in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs George Kotsiras, ANA reports.
The inauguration was performed by Deputy Foreign Minister Kotsiras, the Ambassador of Greece to the United Kingdom Ioannis Tsaousis, and the Consul General in Manchester Alexandros Ioannidis. The consecration was performed by the Archbishop of Thyateira and Great Britain Nikitas.
In his speech to the attendees, Kotsiras pointed out that the establishment of the Consulate General in Manchester was part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs efforts to provide better services to the Greeks of the United Kingdom and to deepen Greek-British relations.
As part of the inauguration, an exhibition of historical documents on Greece’s diplomatic presence in Manchester, curated by the Diplomatic and Historical Archives Service of the MFA, was presented.
