Journalist Anna Karamanli has been appointed the new Deputy Minister of Tourism in place of Elena Rapti, who took over as Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family. She is the new face at the Ministry of Tourism, in the government reshuffle, which was announced a while ago. See her CV immediately after the composition of the new cabinet.
The swearing-in of the new members of the Government will take place tomorrow at 11.00 at the Presidential Palace in the presence of the President of the Republic Konstantinos Tasoulas and immediately afterwards the Council of Ministers will meet at the Maximos Palace under the Prime Minister.
Who is Anna Karamanli
She is a graduate of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a Master of Science (MSc) in Public Administration, which was awarded to her by the “Neapolis” University, Paphos, Cyprus.
She is a PhD candidate at the University of Sparta on the scientific subject: “The role of the media in combating violence”.
Finally, she has completed her studies at the “Bona” School of Journalism.
Foreign languages: English and Spanish.
Parliamentary Activities
She was first elected as a Member of Parliament for the 2nd District of Athens with the New Democracy party. in the elections of May 6, 2012.
Professional career
She worked as a sports reporter at Hellenic Radio and Television.
She began her journalistic career at ERT3 (1991) as a presenter of the sports show “At the Stadium Once”.
She has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Sports News Bulletin at ERT (1994-2009) and presenter of the central Bulletin at ERT (1995-2012).
She was the first female presenter of the show “Athletic Sunday” (2004-2009).
She is a regular member of ESIEA.
She is a member of PSAT.
Political Activity
She has been a member of the Political Committee of New Democracy since 2007.
She was a candidate for Deputy Governor of West Athens with the “Attiki Nea Proopistiki” party.
She is a Regional Councilor in the Attica Region.
She was elected 2nd Prefectural Councilor (2006-2010), with the “Ypernomarchia Drassis” party.
Athletic distinctions
She was named Balkan Champion (1984) in the Long Jump.
She was named Greek Champion (1984-1989) in the Long Jump.
Member of the National Athletics Team in the Balkans. Mediterranean and European Games.
