The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Anna Karamanli, participated in the work of the meeting held in Chios, in the context of the presentation of the National Strategy for Regional and Local Development: “We Discuss, We Decide, We Move Forward TOGETHER for Chios”.
Mrs. Karamanli referred to the positive dynamics of the North Aegean Region, which in 2024 recorded a significant increase with an increase of 40.1% in tourist visits and 32.6% in tourist receipts.
During her statement, the Deputy Minister emphasized:
“Chios is a typical example of the Greece that we want to highlight: the Greece of 365 days, of quality and multidisciplinary experiences, of sustainable tourism development.”
Mrs. Karamanli presented the main axes of the national tourism policy, making special reference to the establishment of Destination Management and Promotion Organizations, the promotion of the “North Aegean” brand, the development of special forms of tourism such as spa tourism, gastronomy and agrotourism as well as the digital actions implemented by the Greek National Tourism Organization—with Chios being dynamically promoted abroad.
In closing, she emphasized: “With a plan and consistency, the Ministry of Tourism is shaping a new tourism model – competitive, sustainable and fair. A model that multiplies the benefits for local communities and creates real conditions for development for all.”
