GNTO chief meets local authorities of Argosaronic islands on tourism promotion issues

Meetings with local authorities of the Argosaronic islands were held by the president of the Development Organization of the Attica Region, Dimitris Fragakis. The subject of the meetings, which took place in Spetses, Hydra, and Aegina, was the management and promotion of the Argosaronic islands through the overall promotion strategy of the Attica Region.

Mr. Fragakis met with the Mayor of Spetses, Eugenia Fraggia, the Tourism Committee of the island, and local tourism stakeholders. The discussions focused on critical infrastructure issues and strategies for their international promotion.

The President of the Attica Regional Development Organization traveled to Hydra, where he met with the Mayor of the island, Georgios Koukoudakis, the President of the Hoteliers’ Association, Maria Kladakis, and those involved in the island’s tourism product. The main topics of discussion were the strengthening of the island’s tourism promotion efforts in foreign markets and the extension of the tourist season.

In Aegina, he met with the mayor of the island, Yiannis Zorbas, the Hoteliers’ Association, catering operators, and other local operators. These initiatives aim to attract more visitors, for longer periods, to the benefit of the local economy.

As noted in a relevant announcement, “the consultation with the municipal authorities of the islands and local tourism bodies aims to join forces and draw up a strategic promotion and take specific initiatives that will highlight the islands of Athens as a whole, but also each separately as an autonomous tourist destination. The Region of Attica and the Development Organization “New Metropolitan Attica S.A.”, in collaboration with everyone, are working for the sustainable development and substantial promotion of the tourism product of the wider Athens region.”
