The Deputy Minister of Tourism Anna Karamanli visited Lesvos, participating in a government delegation led by the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Th. Kontogeorgis, for the presentation of the Local Development Plan.
“This continuous upward trajectory, on which Greek tourism has been moving overall in recent years, is also recorded in the tourism figures concerning the North Aegean Region,” emphasized the Deputy Minister, noting that for Lesvos in particular, in the first nine months of 2025, air arrivals increased by 6.5% compared to 2024.
Ms. Karamanli emphasized that “our strategy for qualitative and sustainable development is bearing fruit,” as the country is recording steady progress in strengthening the competitiveness and resilience of tourism.
Referring to the projects implemented by the Ministry of Tourism, she noted that it is consistently proceeding with the creation of Local and Regional Destination Management Organizations (DMMOs) as well as the North Aegean Regional Tourism Observatory, which will contribute to sustainable development based on real data.
The Deputy Minister made special mention of the projects of the Recovery and Resilience Fund such as “Health and Wellness Tourism with the Exploitation of Thermal Springs” and the “Accessible Beaches” program that improve accessibility and enhance the diversification of the tourism product. At the same time, she referred to the “Tourism for All” program, noting that Lesvos ranks first among the destinations of the North Aegean Region.
“Lesvos has now established its position among the most dynamically developing forces of Greek tourism. It combines authenticity with quality, hospitality with sustainability. With a plan and cooperation, tourism can become a stable lever of development for the place and its people,” said Deputy Minister of Tourism Anna Karamanli.
