Greek police fine hundreds for breaking Covid-19 rules

Greek police checks to prevent the spread of coronavirus carried out throughout Greece on Friday led to the confirmation of 373 violations for not using a mask and not maintaining the required minimum distances, as well as for 20 other violations of rules for containing Covid-19, ANA reports.

In a total of 57,138 inspections, police noted 13 violations of rules on the operation of shops and private businesses, six for an excessive number of customers where the operation of the businesses was suspended, one in Attica for the operation of the business after midnight where a fine of 10,000 euros and the three-day suspension was imposed, and one for failure to complete a Passenger Locator Form by a traveler.

For each of the 373 violations for non-use of masks and not observing social distancing, police imposed fines of 150 euros. Since the start of August, police have recorded a total of 10,185 such violations, imposing 10,176 fines of 150 euros and nine for 300 euros.

On the Cyclades islands, there were 68 inspections of firms and 18 violations confirmed.
