The Municipality of Kilkis embarked on an initiative to obtain 60,000 euros from European Union’s funding Leader Program to proclaim the town as a City Break destination
The object of the proposed project is to develop an integrated tourism promotion program in order to promote Kilkis as a popular City Break destination, targeting mainly residents of Thessaloniki and neighboring prefectures.
Comprehensive program
The implementation of such a comprehensive program, within the context of national and especially regional tourism development policy that is not fragmented and marginalized, should contribute significantly to the emergence of an advanced tourism product for the region.
It should therefore contribute to increased traffic in the area, growth of the industry’s turnover, consequent enhancement of employment and extension of the tourist season.
The project will uitilize multilingual messages, advanced technology and modern communication strategy to promote the city with its cave and museums, as well as areas of natural beauty and environmental interest, tourist trails and paths, alternative tourism activities, cultural and folklore monuments, events and traditions of the region, quality products and local gastronomy etc.
