Athens among top-50 tourist destinations for milennials in the world

A new research tells us why Millennials are visiting and relocating to certain hubs, clarifying the unique appeals of each location.

Furnished housing aggregator, Nestpick, combined their industry knowledge with an intensive research project, examining the cities by 16 factors, including housing score, tolerance to immigration, equality and a ranking of nightlife options. Here are the cities worldwide that offer Millennials the best standards of living based on general characteristics of the generation.

Athens first in terms of housing

Greece’s capital Athens ranked 46th overall and first in terms of housing, scoring highest for cities with under 1 million inhabitants. Housing was assessed based on affordability.

Out of 100, Athens scored 99 for employment, 16 for transport, 71 for LGBT friendliness, 36 for startups, 28 for health, 96 for contraception, 14 for its night scene, 47 for tourism, 14 for food, 24 for gender equality, four for housing, 33 for Internet speed and 85 for immigration.

For the Employment Ranking, Brugge, Belgium, scored highest for cities with under 1 million inner-city inhabitants, and Bangkok, Thailand scored highest for cities with a population of over 1 million.

For the Startup Score, San Franciso, USA scored highest for cities with under 1 million inner-city inhabitants, and Los Angeles, USA scored highest for cities with a population of over 1 million.

For the Tourism Score, Venice, Italy scored highest for cities with under 1 million inner-city inhabitants, and Bangkok, Thailand scored highest for cities with a population of over 1 million.

For the Housing Ranking, Athens, Greece scored highest for cities with under 1 million inner-city inhabitants, and Guadalajara, Mexico scored highest for cities with a population of over 1 million.

For the Transport Score, Oslo, Norway scored highest for cities with under 1 million inner-city inhabitants, and Paris, France scored highest for cities with a population of over 1 million.

For the Health Rank, French cities scored highest for cities with under 1 million inner-city inhabitants, along with Paris, France scoring highest for cities with a population of over 1 million.

For the Food Score, Brno, Czech Republic scored highest for cities with under 1 million inner-city inhabitants, and Medellin, Colombia scored highest for cities with a population of over 1 million.

For Internet Speed,Austin, USA scored highest for cities with under 1 million inner-city inhabitants, and Prague, Czech Republic scored highest for cities with a population of over 1 million.

For the Apple Rank, Geneva, Switzerland scored highest for cities with under 1 million inner-city inhabitants, and Cologne, Germany scored highest for cities with a population of over 1 million.

For Access to Contraception, English cities scored highest for cities with under 1 million inner-city inhabitants, and Chinese cities scored highest for cities with a population of over 1 million.

For Gender Equality, Helsinki, Finland scored highest for cities with under 1 million inner-city inhabitants, and Stockholm, Sweden scored highest for cities with a population of over 1 million.

For the ImmigrationTolerance, Canadian cities Toronto and Montreal scored highest for cities with under 1 million inner-city inhabitants, and Irish cities Dublin and Cork scored highest for cities with a population of over 1 million.

For the Beer Score, Brno, Czech Republic scored highest for cities with under 1 million inner-city inhabitants, and Beijing, China scored joint highest for cities with a population of over 1 million.
