Four new pedestrianised roads in "historic centre" of Athens

Four more roads in the “historic centre” of Athens will be fully pedestrianised as of next Thursday, so that vehicles will only be able to access Athinas Street from Syntagma and Stadiou Street via Mitropoleos, Karageorgi Servia and Sofokleous Streets.

Added to the network of pedestrianised roads in the city centre are Chrysospiliotissis, Nikiou, Polyklitou and Vlachava streets. Drivers will also be unable to turn left from Praxitelous Street onto Chrysospiliotissis, Vissis and Nikiou streets.

Sole donor for the work to improve the city centre was the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Since work began on April 1, the municipality has pedestrianised Vissis, Agathonos and Karori streets.
