Athens will bring in 2018 at the Thissio pedestrian walkway with the historic Acropolis as its stunning backdrop and plenty of music and events planned for New Year’s Eve this Sunday.
Lots of fireworks will be bursting over the beautiful ancient Parthenon monument and there will be lots of free festivities for all to enjoy in Greece’s capital city.
Violinist Evanthia Reboutsika will perform instrumental tunes together with the Athens philharmonic in the last hour of 2017 paving the way for popular duo Mariza Rizou and Panos Mouzourakis to take the stage in an event presented by Christos Ferentinos.
Percussionists will be drumming away 2017 along Apostolou Pavlou pedestrian walkway while Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis prepares for the countdown into 2018 sending well wishes for the new year.
In the meantime, sending out a message of hope and compassion, a glass studio at Syntagma Square in central Athens will be hosting popular Greek DJs on Saturday who will be playing requests between noon and 8pm with aim to support those in financial need around the city.
The Glasshouse, will be placed under the Christmas tree and offer a large range of tracks that are expected to entertain all.
