The British Embassy invites the public to this annual “British Residence Open Day” on Sunday, December 15, to view one of the finest neo-classical townhouses in Athens and discover its rich history, ANA reports.
It is the third consecutive year the event is being held at the British Residence, once the home to Greek statesman and prominent leader of the Greek national liberation movement Eleftherios Venizelos (1864-1936). Currently, the home of British Ambassador Kate Smith, the building has been the activity hub of the British Embassy since 1936 where over 300 events are hosted every year.
Visitors will get a tour of the building’s interior and exterior and learn more about its history.
